The Illusion of Safety: Why Following Others Won’t Lead You to Purpose
I know it feels scary.
I'm telling you again and again and again that your purpose doesn't look like anything that's out there, doesn't look like any job title or any career path that you can see out there. It's completely unique, and it's not created yet.
And suddenly, it feels as if you have nothing to grasp onto. The floor underneath your feet is going down, and it feels like free-falling. If there's no blueprint, no roadmap that you can actually see and take and follow, then what is it that you wanna do? What are you meant to do?
It feels really scary. I see you. I hear you.
But the truth is, you don't need any roadmap that's out there. None of it.
It only feels scary because we've gotten used to following someone else's example or doing things that have already been done, but your soul is visionary. You didn't come here for that.
The only thing you need is to actually pause and listen, because all the blueprints, all the roadmaps, all the guidance, all the information that you need to figure out your purpose and bring it to life, you're receiving it already from your soul.
All those intuitive hits, callings that don't make any sense at all, but you kinda feel that you have to follow, all those things, feelings, and knowings that you have within you, those are the clues. That is part of the roadmap. That is the only thing you need.
When fear shows up again, and you actually feel like you're free-falling and you have no idea what to grasp into, pause and listen to your soul. Pause and tune into that guidance. That is the only thing you need.
The only roadmap that you need is the roadmap of your soul.
If we just followed the guidance of our soul, there'd be nothing in this world that would stop us from finding and living our purpose. Nothing.
And I know it's scary. And it's easy and comfortable to let that fear win and keep following other people to find our purpose, because that's what everyone, even our minds, keeps telling us.
But it's just an illusion.
An illusion that we're not even aware of most of the time.
An illusion that our minds keep feeding us, even when no one else does. Because your mind will always prioritise the familiar, no matter how wrong it feels.
Your path is not on the other side of you trying to make something that already exists work for you.
Your path is on the other side of you being brave and courageous (which you already are), not letting fear dictate how you move and start going off the beaten path.
And if nothing seems clear and you don't know what your next step is, just close your eyes, quiet your mind and listen to your soul.
That will always work.
